This was a day trip to Fort Worden State Park in Port Townsend, and Fort Casey State Park on Whidbey Island. We really explored Fort Worden, but since we kind of got up there late (didn’t arrive till 1pm), we only had an hour at Fort Casey before it got dark and we had to head home. Fort Worden has a more in-depth post coming in the 2020 section, with a future one on Fort Casey coming Summer of 2021, so make sure to take a look at these posts also.
Both parks are maintained well, but I think that Fort Casey is one of the best maintained parks I have seen in the whole system. It is really well taken care of! The bunkers are all painted, and the main big bunker even has electricity in portions. This park is 100 percent worth the ferry ride over from Port Townsend, which drops you off on state park grounds.
