2022

Mossyrock Park

This trip took place in May, 2022. I took a week off work and came out here for a stay. I had an okay site out in the Smores loop. It was unlevel for my truck camper, so it took some leveling of the truck, and did not have a lot of privacy. The unlevel part added some stress to the trip, as I tried taking the camper off to go into town and fill my propane, and had the camper slide and had to get it winched back on the truck, which was an all day ordeal.

I got out there on a Saturday afternoon, and had some neighbors on one side through Sunday. Everyone proceeded to leave Sunday, and for most of the week, pretty much all the way till Thursday afternoon, had the whole loop to myself. There was one van that rolled in late Tuesday and left fairly early Wednesday, and were not much of a bother. I did not have a hookup site, so it was nice during these days to run the generator whenever I needed or wanted and not bother anyone with the noise.

For the most part I hung around the campground. I was staying on Riffe lake, which is near where we stayed over Thanksgiving 2021. During one day, before the slide incident, I went and visited where we stayed then. The first weekend was nice weather, the week had off and on decent weather, but Memorial Day weekend at the end of my trip had rainy weather, which wasn’t the best ending to the trip. May in Washington can be like that though.

I think in future trips I should consider other means of transportation when staying a long time like this trip. Maybe its time to consider a Jeep to flat tow. Also I think I would probably get a full hookup site. It is a pain to make sure the water is full and battery is charged. Good thing I had bought a generator for just for this trip.
