Tampa, Florida

This was a week long trip down to Tampa, Florida. I went in the end of September, when it was not to hot and humid, so it was a lot like a Pacific Northwest summer at this time. During my stay, I went out to Clearwater Beach and Saint Petersburg, walked along the Riverwalk, went up to Dunedin, Florida, and toured an old military cargo ship while down there.

It is a very clean and safe city, and there is not a whole lot of traffic either. There is plenty to do around there, so you will not have a lack of stuff to do. We stayed at the Opal Resort while in Clearwater, which is a little costly but with a gift card we had brought it down some. We stayed on the tenth floor, and got a great view of the Gulf of Mexico. The Pier at Saint Petersburg was well worth a visit, and just like the Riverwalk, was just remodeled (although this is a hair newer).

Dunedin is a small town with a good sized marina, and a lot of gift shop type stores. It is a good spot to visit for an afternoon. The USS American Victory, the military cargo ship I visited on my last day was okay, I expected it to be a lot better put together than it was. The USS Turner Joy is a much better museum to visit than this one. All in all, it was a great trip.
